Modeling and control of a dc-dc converter with high boost gain and reduced current ripple
Objectives: 1. Modelling the steady-state behavior of the dc-dc converter with high boost gain and reduced current ripple. 2. Modelling the nonlinear dynamic behavior of the dc-dc converter with high boost gain and reduced current ripple. 3. Obtain the small-signal model and derive the transfer functions of the dc-dc converter with high boost gain and reduced current ripple. 4. Characterize the frequency response of the dc-dc converter with high boost gain and reduced current ripple 5. Design a gain scheduled controller to ensure a proper behavior of the converter regulating the output voltage in a wide range of operational conditions. 6. Validate the correct operation of the proposed controller in face of input voltage and load disturbances. Methodology: The development of objectives 1 to 4 aims to obtain an accurate model of the dc-dc converter with high boost gain and reduced current ripple. Based on this model, objective 5 focus on designing an appropriate controller controller to ensure stable and robust operation in a wide range of operation condition with similar response of the converter providing a regulated output voltage. Finally, objective 6 consists on assess the correct operation of the closed loop system regarding transient response to disturbances in the input voltage and the load. MATLAB software will be used as tools to implement algorithms for analysis and design while PSIM will be used to validate the operation of the converters with the proposed controllers.
