Integrating Nanotechnology and Bioengineering: Porous Alumina Systems for Controlled Drug Release
This project falls within the field of nanomedicine and proposes the development of controlled drug delivery systems based on nanostructured porous alumina. Thanks to its exceptional properties—such as high biocompatibility, the ability to be functionalized, and its stability in biological environments—porous alumina stands out as an ideal material for advanced therapeutic applications. The main objective is to design nanostructures with controlled pores capable of encapsulating active pharmaceutical ingredients and releasing them in a sustained, specific, and localized manner, thereby improving treatment efficacy and reducing side effects. This interdisciplinary approach, which integrates materials science, bioengineering, and nanotechnology, aims to offer innovative solutions to current challenges in targeted therapies, particularly for chronic and oncological diseases.
